Permanent hair removal in Zurich

Laser hair removal has established itself as an effective method of permanently removing unwanted hair. With the help of laser beams, the hair roots are destroyed and hair regrowth is prevented.

After a series of treatments, approximately 80% of the hair in the treatment area can be permanently removed. Of course, it’s practical to no longer have to shave your armpits, but laser treatment often also has a medical aspect: it can prevent inflammation and infections.

Laser hair removal with the Clarity laser offers a safe and effective solution for permanent hair removal.

This procedure uses concentrated laser beams that penetrate the skin and heat the color pigments in the hair. This damages the hair in the growth phase, which is still firmly attached to the hair root. This process also damages the surrounding cells that supply the hair root.

The result is a dead hair root from which new hair can no longer grow. Dark hair absorbs laser light better and therefore responds more effectively to treatment than blonde, red or white hair. Diode lasers can also be used to remove hair.

The Clarity laser allows us to safely and gently treat a wide range of body parts.

For example, we offer the following:

  • Facial hair removal
  • Hair removal on the upper lip
  • Armpit hair removal
  • Arm hair removal
  • Leg hair removal
  • Hair removal in the bikini area
  • Chest and back hair removal

In particular, women who have developed an unwanted “lady beard,” particularly during menopause, find this technology particularly useful. But people who have had a lot of hair on their skin since childhood or who often suffer from inflammation in certain hairy areas can also benefit from laser hair removal.

It is important to mention that laser hair removal requires multiple sessions to reach all hair follicles during their growth phase. The number of sessions required varies depending on the area treated and individual hair density.

Behandlungsmöglichkeiten

Treatment options for permanent hair removal vary depending on the patient’s underlying issues and needs.

Aesthetic indications

Some people choose laser hair removal for personal or aesthetic reasons, for example:

  • Excessive hair growth (hypertrichosis): This affects both men and women and can affect different areas of the body, including the face, forearms, back, legs and bikini line.
  • Inconvenience caused by common traditional hair removal methods: Some people choose laser hair removal to reduce the inconvenience and time-consuming associated with regular shaving, waxing or plucking.

Medical indications

  • Hirsutism: This is a condition characterized by excessive hair growth on the face and body in women in the pattern of male hair growth. Hirsutism can be a result of hormonal disorders and lead to significant psychosocial stress.
  • Hair-related skin problems: Some people may experience repeated inflammation or infection in hair follicles (folliculitis). In these cases, laser hair removal can help reduce inflammation and prevent future problems.
  • Acne inversa : This is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease characterized by recurrent, painful abscesses and fistulas, particularly in areas where hair follicles are located, such as the armpits or groin. Laser hair removal can help relieve symptoms and prevent the condition from recurring.

It is important to note that laser hair removal can be covered by health insurance for some of these indications, particularly hormonal disorders or inflammatory hair organ diseases such as acne inversa. Please bring all relevant medical documents and findings from previous examinations and treatments with you to the consultation to clarify whether reimbursement of costs is possible.

Ablauf

Laser Haarentfernung Ablauf

Laser hair removal requires careful preparation and a specific procedure to achieve optimal results.

In preparation for the treatment, the skin should be carefully shaved and the hair should not have been epilated or plucked for at least three weeks beforehand. You should also avoid sun exposure for two weeks before treatment. We will clarify this in an initial consultation with one of our specialists.

On the day of treatment, the skin should be clean and free of makeup, lotions or creams. The treatment duration varies depending on the size of the area to be treated. It can be between 10 and 80 minutes. The treatment is described by most people as slightly uncomfortable, similar to the feeling of a rubber band breaking on the skin.

After the treatment , it is important to take good care of the skin and protect it from the sun. Direct sunlight should be avoided and the skin must be consistently protected with a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 50 to avoid rare but possible hyper- or hypopigmentation.
